June Marie :: 9 Months

Happy 9 months June Marie! Love bug...you are an absolute JOY. My heart could literally burst as I type this. What a privilege it is to be your momma!

Weight: 19 lbs 14oz (70%)
Height: 28.50" (82%)
Head Circumference: 45.25cms (84%)
Size 3 diapers
9-12 month clothes

Sleeping
Thank goodness for the tube, because June is back to sleeping through the night! She goes down for bed between 7:30/8pm and wakes up for the day between 7:30/8am. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night looking for her paci (even though there are 3-4 paci's in her bed at all times), but she figures it out pretty quickly and goes right back to sleep. June transitioned to 2 1.5 hour naps (instead of 2 hour naps) a few days ago, so now she is typically napping from 10:30am-12pm and 2:30-4pm. She prefers sleeping on her stomach. I always put her down on her back, but she flips right over before I even have time to close the door to her room!

Eating
June is still on a 4 hour eating schedule. She typically takes a bottle at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 7:30pm. She is taking less formula during the day since she is eating more solid foods. She usually eats about 4oz of formula at 8am, 12pm and 4pm and 8oz at bedtime. We started giving her table food at the beginning of the month and she is a HUGE fan. She definitely prefers table foods over baby foods. She'll eat just about anything we put in front of her! I still try and give her some baby food during each meal period, but it's not always successful. She's starting to get the hang of squeezies, so I'm hoping that will help. I've also started introducing sign language at meal times. We're working on "more" first. June just claps...but whatever! :)

Activity Time
June loves playing with Lucy, watching Lucy, listening for Lucy...pretty much anything Lucy is doing,  bath time, the bouncer, going on walks, swinging, being outside and chewing on anything she can get her mouth on! She has started getting a little frustrated when she can't reach something. She wants to move so badly, but she's no where close to crawling...at all.

Milestones/Firsts
June's first tooth (bottom left) came through on 4/10/13 (the day after she turned 8 months). Her second tooth (bottom right) popped through about a week later. Teething has been a little rough, but she's been a trooper (thank goodness for Tylenol). She loves to clap and will start clapping when you say "clap." She will attempt to wave, but it looks more like a flapping wing. She will also reach out with her arms when she wants you to pick her up.

Personality
June is still as easy going as ever, although I have noticed that she has started expressing her opinions a little more lately (especially if it's something she doesn't like)! She really is as happy as can be 90% of the time, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Right now, she adapts well to change and hasn't struggled with separation anxiety yet. She's a little doll and such a joy to be around!

Happy 9 Months Baby June! We love you more than words could ever express!

Those new recipes...

Life has been very busy lately, so we've eaten leftovers, fended for ourselves, or eaten out a bit more than normal...and it took me 2 weeks to cook the recipes I included on my last meal post. All of the new recipes turned out great! Here are my tidbits...

This was delicious and made the perfect amount for me, Josh and Lucy. To save some time, I used Uncle Ben's Ready Rice that you cook for 90 seconds in the microwave. I was not paying attention and accidentally used soy sauce instead of teriyaki sauce, but it tasted great with the soy sauce. Next time I'll use teriyaki sauce for a different flavor. But soy sauce is definitely a great substitute. Quick and easy weeknight meal for sure (I prepped chicken during nap time)!

Yummy!! I followed the recipe to a tee. The recipe made 15 taquitos instead of 9-10, so it's a great recipe for a crowd. I went ahead and fried them instead of baking and they were nice and crisp! Quick and easy weeknight meal, especially if you use a rotisserie chicken!

This was awesome! We just had a little bit left over (probably not enough for someone to make a meal of it). I left out the mushrooms and snow peas and added chicken and asparagus instead. I cooked the chicken first in the pan, then added the other ingredients. You can use any veggie you'd like for this dish. Since I used about a pound of diced chicken, I double the amount of soy sauce, sugar and cayenne pepper. It does have a little bit of a kick (not too bad), so limit the amount of cayenne pepper you use if you prefer a milder version. Quick and easy weeknight meal (I prepped the chicken during nap time)!

This was delicious and made the house smell incredible! I used uncooked chicken sausage and all of the spices that are optional in the recipe. Definitely use the spices and don't leave out the banana peppers...so yummy! I served it over Uncle Ben's Wild Rice. There's some chopping required for this recipe, but it didn't take too long. I prepped everything while the girls were napping, so all I had to do was pop it in the oven when we were ready for dinner.

Awesome recipe! I followed the recipe to a tee, expect I left out the jalapeƱo pepper. I also chopped the onion really, really fine. This soup had great flavors and it made enough for both Josh and I to eat it for lunch the next day! I prepped this the night before in the crockpot, so all I had to do was turn on the crockpot the next day. Super easy and really delicious!

Queen of the Sippy Cup!

Girlfriend literally figured out how to suck from a straw in a matter of seconds. It was shocking! I'm so proud of her...and really hoping this makes weaning from the bottle a breeze.  We're in no hurry...she's still my baby!
