Tummy Time + Mickey Mouse

We have been pushing through tummy time this past week. Lucy just doesn't want anything to do with it. This morning Josh bribed her with a Mickey Mouse cartoon on his iPhone. And, it actually worked. She made it almost 5 minutes on her tummy without crying! Thank you, Mickey!

Sweet feet...

Now that Lucy has discovered her feet, she has started to roll to the side when she grabs them. She hasn't rolled over yet...but I think it'll happen soon!

I just can't get enough of those little toes...

Playing in her Sassy Seat...

We recently introduced Lucy to the Sassy Seat....as you can see, she is a big fan! I'm a fan of it too, because I can get things done in the kitchen while Lucy is fully entertained, happy and safe!

4 Months...

Lucy is 4 months old!! She is at such a fun age...and I hear it just keeps getting better and better! Here are her 4 month stats...
Weight: 14 lbs 4 oz (70th Percentile)

Height: 26 inches (98th Percentile)

Head Circumference: 41.27 cms (60th Percentile)

Lucy is a great sleeper! She goes down around 8pm and wakes up around 7:30am!! We're still dream feeding her around 10:30pm, but I think we're getting close to dropping it because she's only taking 2-3 oz now during that feeding. We have officially moved to the sleep sack...no more swaddling, thank goodness!

During the day, she is still taking 3 naps...9-10:30am, 12-1:30pm and 3-4:30pm. Her morning nap is her best nap...I usually have to wake her up from it. Her 2 afternoon naps are a toss up. They can range anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours....most days it's closer to 1.5 hours. She has pretty much cut out her early evening cat nap.

She is still eating 6 times per day (about every 3 hours during the day)....7:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, 7:30pm and 10:30pm. She is definitely eating more now, anywhere from 4-6 oz. Some days I have to supplement with formula at the 4:30pm and 7:30pm feedings....the girl is hungry! No solids yet....Lucy's pediatrician told us to wait until 5 1/2 or 6 months.

She still HATES tummy time, so we hardly ever do it. BUT, Lucy's doctor said that we need to start putting her on her tummy for 5-10 minutes twice a day and just let her cry it out so she can get stronger for crawling. I have a feeling that is not going to go over too well! She has excellent head control, but that's not the case for her upper body. She is no where close to sitting up on her own and she hasn't rolled over yet. So, tummy time...here we come!

She loves her exersaucer, sassy seat, bumbo and floor gym. She is so over her swing.

Lucy is a huge fan of her hands....especially when they are in her mouth. She still takes a paci when we put her down, but now she seems to prefer her thumb over her paci. She can definitely keep her thumb in her mouth better than her paci!

She has discovered her feet....need I say more. It's precious.

Lucy smiles all of the time and started laughing this month. Hearing her laugh for the first time was absolutely the best! She laughs at her dad the most...especially when he sings to her! She "talks" ALL of the time...and it's getting louder and louder!

The drool has officially made it's debut! Bibs are the newest addition to her wardrobe.

She is wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6 month clothes (mostly 6 month).

A funny quirk that Lucy has is she gets startled so easily. Sometimes the slightest noise can scare her. And when this happens it usually turns bad real quick. It cracks us up.

We love you Lucy Kate. You are simply the best! Happy 4 months baby girl!!

ACTORSCIA....What does that spell??

This morning when our alarm went off Josh handed me a valentine's card with a big A on the front of it. Inside it read....

A if for Amazing. You're an amazing wife, mother and friend. You amaze me with your excellence at work and at home.

8 More of these cards showed up randomly throughout the day. Josh told me to keep them in order because they would eventually spell something. As you can see, the order was quite odd...I could not figure out what he was going to spell.

C is for Caring. You are so caring towards other people which is why everyone wants to be your friend.

T is for Team Rives. I am so excited about Team Rives growing bigger and sticking together.

O is for Old. I cannot wait to grow old with you and watch our kids grow up. I love the idea of being with you for 100 years.

R is for Relaxation. I love to just relax and do nothing next to you. We should do that more often.

S is for Sweet. You have such a sweet personality and everyone loves to be around you.

C is for Creative. You are so unbelievably creative and I am amazed at how you can take nothing and turn it into something beautiful.

I is for Incredible. You are an incredible woman of God, an incredible mother to Lucy and an incredible wife.

A if for All. As in you have all of my love and you have all of the letters you need. What does that spell?

After he gave me the last card when he got home from work, he fessed up and said that the cards were actually not in order and that I needed to unscramble them to figured out what they spelled. So, I spread them all out on the dinning room table and finally figured out that they spelled....

That's right....Josh is taking me to COSTA RICA in August!!! How sweet, romantic and creative is my hubby??!! I was SO surprised...I think Josh definitely got the reaction he was looking for!! I was squealing loud and jumping high for a solid minute! It's so much fun to have something exciting like this to look forward to. And another surprise....the Simmons are going with us!! We love traveling with Chris and Marina!! We've racked up quite a few British Airways miles from all of our travels to and from Zambia over the past couple of years, so Josh decided it was time to put them to good use....in Costa Rica!! I can't wait to get there!! Now, it's time to get serious about losing these last 10 pregnancy pounds!! Motivation....motivation....motivation!! :)

My little snow angel...

Before the snow melted yesterday, I took Lucy outside for a quick photo shoot to document her first real snow...

Lucy, your first Super Bowl took place tonight at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The Green Bay Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31 to 25.

Iced in...

Tomorrow will be day 3 of "not going anywhere because our driveway has a half inch of ice on it"...

Next time we'll be smarter and move our cars to the front of the house BEFORE the ice storm hits. Thankfully, we have plenty of food...a warm home...and Pete Delkus to keep us company.

P.S...Today my little blog is 3 years old! Happy Birthday PB&PT!
