We are sleeping through the night!!! Definitely the biggest achievement from this past month...and such a blessing for mom and dad! Her first night to sleep through the night was on Tuesday, Jan. 4th (at 11 weeks old). I woke up on the morning of Jan. 5th at 5am to feed her and found a sleeping baby! I decided to see how long she would go before waking up...well, girlfriend slept until 7:30am!! So now our typical nighttime routine is...eat around 7:30pm, down for bed around 8:30pm, dream feed at 10:30pm, sleep, sleep, sleep, wake up at 7:30am to eat! Some nights she wakes up around 4-5am, but she settles herself back to sleep after a little crying/fussing.
She is taking 3 1.5 hour naps during the day....typically from 9am-10:30am, 12pm-1:30pm and 3pm-4:30pm. She'll sneak in a little cat nap in her swing or bouncy seat around 6pm for about 30-45 minutes. She's going down for her naps pretty well....we've definitely had to work at it! She hardly cries anymore and when she does cry, it's short lived.
We are still using the miracle blanket for naps, but we've moved into a sleep sack at night. She started breaking out of her swaddle during the night a few weeks ago, so we figured it was time to try something different. The sleep sack is working great and she loves sleeping with her arms up by her head. We give her a paci when we put her down at night and for her naps....she's a big fan of it.
Lucy eats 6 times a day....at 7:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, 7:30pm and 10:30pm. She's eating about 4oz at each feeding for 12-15 minutes. I'm still nursing, which is going really well. It's obviously working because sister's cheeks and thighs are filling out...it's precious! She takes a bottle really well when I'm not there to feed her and Josh gives her a bottle at her 10:30pm dream feeding each night..this works really well because it doesn't wake her up as much (she just eats while she's sleeping) and Josh takes advantage of that time to pray for her. He really is the best dad...Lucy, you are so lucky!
Lucy has found her hands...and she loves to put them in her mouth! This is freaking/grossing mom out a bit, but I guess I need to get over it!
Her favorite activities when she is awake are bath time, swinging, standing up, kicking, sitting in her bumbo, playing underneath her floor gym, looking at herself in the mirror, hanging out on her changing table (with one of us there, of course), listening to music, reading books, blowing spit bubbles and going for walks. She has really started grabbing and reaching out for things this month....she's loving all of the fun animals that dandle over her when she's on her floor gym. She grabs on to her blankets, lovie and burp cloths really tight in her hands, especially when she is in her swing and car seat. She noticed herself in the mirror for the first time this month...she thinks that baby starring back at her is pretty funny! Tummy time is still not her thing.
She's wearing size 1 diapers...although I think size 2's are right around the corner. 3 month clothes are fitting her pretty perfectly....but some are getting a little snug.
She went to the church nursery for the first time this month...it was not as hard as I thought it would be. She did great and was a big hit with the nursery volunteers!
She is cooing and "talking" to us more and more each day.
Nicknames include Lucy Goose, Goose, LuLu, Lu, Scooter, Sister Shubert (her poops smell like yeast rolls!), sister, lady and girlfriend.
Now that we have our routine somewhat figured out, Lucy is a very happy and content baby. I am now a firm believer that babies thrive on routine! Her smile melts my heart every time. I can't wait to hear her giggle for the first time!
Lucy, I can't imagine life without you in it. You are such a joy and blessing to your dad and I. We love you more than words could ever express. We are so thankful that the Lord gave us YOU. Each day I am amazed at God's goodness and faithfulness to us through you!
