Florida Keys :: June 2013

Josh and I had the best time on our vacation to The Florida Keys. It was just one of those trips were everything went right...we had no travel issues, our hotels were amazing, the food and drinks were delightful, the weather was perfect and we truly had fun being together...just the two of us.

We flew from DFW to Miami...
We got a little shut eye in Miami, picked up our rental car the next morning and headed south on Route 1 (aka: The Overseas Hwy - the highway that connects all of The Keys).
Our first stop was Islamorada, where we stayed one night at the gorgeous Ocean House. This place is unreal...a real jewel. I would recommend it over and over again. Josh and I both wished we would have stayed here another night. It was so quaint and peaceful.
Josh enjoyed some paddle boarding...
While I took a 2 hour nap here. It was devine.
We had dinner a fun local joint called Lorelei Cabana Bar...
Celebrating 8 years of marriage in Islamorada!
Our view the next morning...
with room service...
And then we were off to Key West! One of our favorite experiences of the trip was driving through The Keys...it was beautiful!
2 hours later we made it to our resort in Key West, Casa Marina. Again, I highly recommend this place! The resort was beautiful, the rooms were very nice (and spacious, and super clean), the food was awesome and it really catered more towards adults ranter than families. While there were plenty of families there, they have 2 huge pools...one for families and one for adults, which was very nice (considering that we were looking for a break from children on this trip). :)
We spent quite a bit of time (and money) here...
After a round (or two) of pina coladas, we enjoyed some time on the beach before heading out for the evening to cruise through Key West...
We decided to return our convertible the next morning because you really don't need a car in Key West. Everyone rides bikes, scooters or walks. It was nice having the car that evening so we could see all of Key West in a short amount of time.
After crossing the big touristy spots off of our list, we enjoyed happy hour at Kelly's. The appetizers were delicious and the Key Lime Margarita was amazing!
We finished the night with dessert here! :) This place was hysterical and the desserts were to die for.
Coffee on the patio the next morning...
We spent the next 2 days on the beach and by the pool...
On our last night in Key West, we enjoyed an amazing dinner on Sunset Key at Latitude's...
The next day, we flew home from Key West and enjoyed lots of hugs and kisses from our girls when we walked in the door!! We were happy to be home...and very thankful for 5 days away to rest and recharge.
